Most of the out of school suspensions in Newport high school district were because of insubordination/ disrespect.
Most of the in school suspensions in Newport high school district were because of cutting classes/school.
Some causes of suspension are also student and teacher assault as well as physical fighting. Students also ranked high in being suspended for abusive language to students and to teacher and threat and intimidation.
Why might this be useful for us?
It shows the reasons for children of all ages getting suspended.Maybe by seeing the reasons, teachers could work to help prevent more suspensions.
In school suspensions are minimal in elementary school. I think this is useful because if students saw the ratios and percentages of reasons why so many students get suspended then they might react different when they see themseleves or their friends in bad situations during school. High school has the most suspensions because obviously the studetns are older and some of the students dont have a good family life at home, which doesnt help the situation either.

There are more out of school suspensions for fighting in the elementary school than both middle and high school.
